Climategames user Melissa Humana-Paredes wins Silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics!

Canadian beach volleyball player Melissa Humana-Paredes won a silver medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, alongside her teammate Brandie Wilkerson. It was a historic moment for Canadian volleyball with this being the country’s first medal of any colour in women’s beach volleyball at an Olympic Games.

Melissa is an inspiration to us all, for her incredible sporting achievement and for her dedication to the environment.

We are proud that Melissa chooses Climategames to help her fund incredible environmental projects and reduce her carbon footprint.

Conscious of her impact as an athlete who needs to travel all over the world to compete, Melissa was keen to manage her footprint and used Climategames to help make her journey to Paris carbon neutral.

Through Climategames, Melissa organised several events for over 200 Climategamers encouraging people to get active and rewarding them with removing carbon from the atmosphere.

In total, Melissa sequestered an impressive 4.233 tons of carbon dioxide to offset her emissions to get to the Paris Olympic Games.

A huge congratulations to Melissa, and Brandie, from the Climategames team.
