Turning rubbish into clean energy verified by Gold Standard
90% of the waste generated in Turkey is sent to landfill. When this waste decomposes it releases very harmful methane gas into the atmosphere.
Our project partner captures this greenhouse gas on a large scale and following a purification process this gas can be repurposed into the national energy grid as cleaner energy, replacing energy that would otherwise be generated by fossil fuel powered plants.
This project meets the international gold standard for carbon credits which contribute to climate protection and sustainable development.
The Standard sets out credible measurement, reporting and verification of positive impacts, ensuring independent verification of every tonne of carbon, including tracking and retirement of credits on a public registry.
