Gleeds ran a successful distance-based exercise challenge through Climategames, engaging a global workforce with movement and climate impact.
Throughout October, employees from Gleeds offices worldwide participated in the Gleeds Global challenge 2024, with the aim of exercising for a collective distance of 75,000kms. Colleagues tracked their physical activities through Climategames, logging over 10,000 activities on the App.
The global workforce travelled a combined distance of over 75,000km in 31 days, the equivalent of visiting all of the Gleeds offices! This enabled them to remove 835kg of plastic from the ocean, through the ReSea Project in Indonesia, the equivalent of nearly 42,000 water bottles.
Alongside this, teams organised over 30 local volunteering events with environmental themes.
Initiated in 2015, the Gleeds Global Challenge occurs biennially, bringing the company’s people together to achieve shared goals that support the planet and society.

How did Gleeds run their event?
Gleeds split colleagues into regional teams (Europe, USA etc), individuals logged their runs, cycles, swims, rows and walks on the Climategames App with leaderboards showing how everyone was doing.
Colleagues were encouraged to share pictures of their exercise and organise team building activities. In India colleagues organised a beach clean-up and a park clean-up which was a great opportunity to bond with colleagues while making a positive impact on the environment.
